Visiting other Lodges is good for you and good for the Lodges you visit.

Within the past year, I've probably visited a dozen different Masonic Lodges, including Haysville, Kansas, Lodge No. 112 and Douglas, Kansas, Lodge No. 151. In the former, I was one of two visitors, and in the latter, I was the sole visitor. It is unfortunate that there were so few visitors, especially since visiting other Lodges is a privilege available and beneficial to every Master Mason. Lodges across the nation and around the globe would welcome your presence. It is always a comfort to sit in a Lodge miles and miles from home because the familiar setting makes you feel "at home" no matter where you are.

Some Masons are fearful they will forget the password, or won't fit in, or will be turned away. Nonsense! Simply remember to bring your identification with a current dues card and/or certificate of your present membership. Each is a sure key to entrance. You may be asked a few questions, but if you reply with words from your heart, you are sure to be received with a warm fraternal welcome.

The Masons who are afraid of pop quizzes and such lose sight of the many rewards of visiting: friendly hellos, sincere handshakes, not to mention new friendships. Probably, the best feeling of all arises when the Senior Deacon stands, announces your name as a visitor, you stand, and you receive applause. What a wonderful feeling of acceptance and approval!

Visiting other Lodges is good for you and good for the Lodges you visit. Each Lodge was built to be utilized. You and I were raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in order to improve ourselves and our communities across this land. Get out and visit!
