Current Interest: Grand Lodge of Denmark Honors Ill. Wilhelmsen, 33°
written by
On January 10, 2009, the Danish Order of Freemasons–Grand Lodge of Denmark presented Ill. Hans R. Wilhelmsen, 33°, SGIG in Maryland, with its Distinction of Honor in recognition of his honest conduct of his life, working on the square, and his “outstanding zeal in the Masonic work.” Grand Master Hans Martin Jepsen presented the award to Dr. Wilhelmsen and placed the medal around his neck before the 500 Danish Masons attend the Grand Lodge session. The total number of living recipients of this award is limited to thirty-four. The Supreme Council presented MW Jepsen with a replica of the gavel used by George Washington to lay the cornerstone of the US Capitol, and this was used to open and close the 2009 session of the Grand Lodge of Denmark.
Bro. Hans joined the Scottish Rite in 1983, received the KCCH in 1995, the 33° in 1994, and has been SGIG of Maryland since 2003. After receiving the Distinction of Honor, he said, “Words cannot describe what I feel in my heart. This creates a real fulfillment in my Masonic career.”
