The Red River flows about a half-mile to the east of the Grand Lodge-Scottish Rite-Shriner complex in Fargo, North Dakota. Elm Street runs along the side of the river and always gets closed in a flood. To the west of Elm Street there is a 39-foot dike built to protect the El Zagal Shrine golf course, and then up on a little hill are built the Grand Lodge of North Dakota, the Masonic/Scottish Rite Center, and the El Zagal Shrine, all overlooking the golf course.
