About the Cover: Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children patient Stetson Bardfield, age 6 of Fort Hood, Texas, is an extremely active first-grader who loves to play baseball. Stetson has been fitted with prosthetic legs at TSRHC and is also treated in the Charles E. Seay, Jr. Hand Center for a hand difference present from birth. He is lighthearted and fun-loving and shows his care for others and his family, especially in the crafts that he sends to his father, who has been serving in Iraq since last October. A promotional gimmick, he measures, chalks and pins his clients right there for the world to see. I was standing in the window on Wednesday morning none too pleased with his selection of shooting coats; all of the available stock in my size were simply too tight."

On September 21, Ill. Walter Breuning, 33° of Montana celebrated his 111th birthday! Born in 1896, he is the 56th oldest living person in the world, the 26th oldest living American, the 2nd oldest American male, and the oldest member of the Southern Jurisdiction. He has lived in three centuries, and his accomplishments are amazing.

On August 26, 2007, Bro. T. David Slugocki, 32°, was seriously injured in Iraq when his tank was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade. Bro. David is a specialist 4th class of the 2nd Platoon, D Company of the 69th Armor, Ft. Benning, Georgia. He is also a Pennsylvania Senior DeMolay, a Master Mason in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and a member of Roanoke, Virginia, Scottish Rite. That he survived his injuries is one miracle; that he is healing well enough to go home is clearly another.
