A visit from Santa brings joy to the children
at the Scottish Rite Clinic for Childhood Language Disorders
in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
 The annual Christmas party is the highlight of
the year for the Scottish Rite Clinic for Childhood Language
Disorders, a RiteCare facility, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It looks
like 2004 will be no exception.
Last year, many members and their families brought
homemade cookies, cartons of ice cream, lots of tasty munchies,
and wonderful gifts
that brought delight to every girl and boy. One little girl was
so thrilled by her doll that she wanted to go home right away
to play with it.
A two-year-old graduating from the clinic’s program was
ecstatic about getting her first diploma. She wasn’t certain
what a diploma was, but she made sure everyone got to see it.
The next day this girl’s mother told me her daughter was
so taken with the blanket she had gotten as a present that all
she wanted to do was carry it everywhere.
The children coming up to receive their certificates
were so proud of themselves. One boy couldn’t decide which
to hold, his toy truck or his diploma. His little hands were
having trouble
holding both.
Then Santa’s arrival brought shrieks of excitement. Children
ran up wanting to talk to Santa and sit in his lap. One little
boy standing in line commented to his mother, “Santa looks
thin. Do you think he had to lose weight so he could go down
the chimneys?”
Another little girl didn’t want to leave Santa after speaking
to him, so she decided to get back in line. When her father asked
what she was doing, she said, “I’m waiting my turn
again because I’ve been real good all year.”
At the end of the event, both youngsters and seniors
were glowing from the simple joys of the season. Thank you to
all the wonderful
Masons and their families who shared their gifts, their time,
and their hearts with these children. You have given a gift
more precious than you can know.
