Recently, we had a neat experience while presenting
the 32° in the Valley of Denver. The primary speaker was on
stage delivering his speech and coming to the part about moving
from light into darkness. Suddenly, we lost all power to the Consistory,
but the auditorium automatically switched to a dim emergency lighting.
The Degree's Director immediately went to the lighting crew thinking
they were improvising on the script, but they had not done anything.
The speaker stood there for maybe five to ten seconds, and then,
since we could see enough by the emergency lights, he just continued
his speech. Minutes later, as he started to talk about going back
from darkness to light, voila, the lights come back on-right on
cue! The Cinco de Mayo celebration down the block had blown
a major grid breaker, and it had taken that long for the power
company to reset it. As someone said, "That Degree you will
remember for the rest of your life!"
