Keeping Up through the Internet

Dean R. Alban, 33°

Since the July-August issue of the Scottish Rite Journal was published, more than 1,400 members have added their email address along with updated mailing information and contact phone numbers. We also have nearly 500 registrants in the SRForum where new friendships have been made and some very interesting discussions are in progress.

Our youngest member with an email address is 19 years old and our most “seasoned” e-traveler is 98 years young! Imagine it: our mystic tie spans nearly 80 years! According to the Nielsen//NetRatings for June 2005, there are now 202,888,307 Internet—68.5% of the population! One of the fastest growing segments of internet usage is the 50+ generation. We hope that as more members of the Rite spread the word about our web “working tool,” our quality of communication and member interaction will benefit.
