One of the most important ways the Scottish Rite thanks its supporters is through the Scottish Rite Donor Recognition Program.

We have had another successful year in our Donor Recognition Program. Because of the generosity of both our Brethren and friends, we have been able to recognize many new names this year, including several individuals who made significant donations to local Foundations. As you know, two years ago, we initiated a Pledge Program, and it continues to bring new contributors to the House of the Temple Historic Preservation Foundation, Inc., the Scottish Rite Foundation, Southern Jurisdiction, USA, Inc., and many local Scottish Rite Foundations. If you don't know about the program, here is a brief explanation.

Under the Pledge Program, an individual may pledge to donate a certain sum per year for a period of up to five years. Anybody who makes such a pledge is recognized under the Scottish Rite Donor Recognition Program for the full amount of that pledge at the time the commitment is made, rather than when it is fully paid. For example, if you pledge $2,000 a year for five years to a Scottish Rite Foundation, we will immediately recognize this $10,000 commitment through the Scottish Rite Donor Recognition Program. You will be recognized as a Patron, and we will display your name on a bronze nameplate in the Hall of Recognition, Robert Burns Room. In addition, your name will be inscribed in the Gold Book of Recognition. A convenient pledge form is provided at the conclusion of this article. Pledges of $150 or more will receive a complimentary copy of Valley of the Craftsmen.

The Donor Recognition Program is 1.) constantly adding new names to the Gold Book of Recognition, located in the Supreme Council Library, 2.) displaying new names with beautiful bronze nameplates in the Robert Burns and International Halls of Recognition, 3.) prominently placing portraits in the Supreme Temple Architects Hall of Honor, and 4.) mounting bronze plaques in the Pillars of Charity Alcove. Several of these names are in memory of a loved one. Names are inscribed in the Gold Book of Recognition located in the Supreme Council Library, and on bronze nameplates in the Halls of Recognition.

We are also pleased to display a new nameplate in the Pillars of Charity Alcove in honor of Vee Hansen Lohmann's generous contribution to the Scottish Rite Foundation, Southern Jurisdiction. In addition, we are awaiting another nameplate for the Pillars of Charity Alcove and a new portrait for the Scottish Rite Supreme Temple Architects Hall of Honor in the House of the Temple in Washington, D.C.

This will be a portrait of Bro. George E. Dewese, 32°, K.C.C.H., a longtime member of Pearl River Lodge No. 3, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, R.O.C., and the Valley of Roanoke, Virginia. After Bro. Dewese's portrait is in the Supreme Temple Architects Hall of Honor, there will be space for only four more Hall of Honor portraits in this prestigious place of recognition in the House of the Temple. The following section describes the Donor Recognition Program in more detail.
