As a string saver, I will go down in history as saving for future use the most outrageous things. I even saved my son's tricycle bike wheels "in case I might need them." When he was 38, I decided that I probably would not need them, and we were moving for the fourth time anyway, so out they went. My collection of National Geographic magazines, starting from the 1920s, finally went to a local grade school for reference, but I have found another use for the stacks of Scottish Rite Journals I have been saving over the years. I take one or more magazines and leave them at the office of my doctor, the car dealer, library, or any place where one has to wait for service. When I make a second visit, the Journals are gone. Someone is reading them and taking them home. With this simple method, I am spreading word of the Scottish Rite and its good work. The next time a receptionist keeps you waiting, consider having a copy of the Journal with you and leaving it. Your storage area will be less cluttered, your wife will be happier, and you will have left a message about our wonderful Fraternity.
